Chevrolet and One World Futbol Project

  • Campaign held ahead of official launch of Chevrolet’s new flagship 3S showroom in Myanmar
  • Chevrolet and One World Futbol Project will donate more than 20,000 nearly indestructible footballs in Myanmar
  • One World Futbol is nearly indestructible and never goes flat

Yangon, Myanmar : Chevrolet Myanmar and One World Futbol Project recently launched a campaign to donate more than 20,000 One World Futbols to 436 schools throughout the country. The schools are in Basic Education, Yangon Division from Western, Northern, South and Eastern regions. The donation will reach 270 high schools and 166 middle schools, benefitting many thousands of students.

“Many of these children are growing up in unfortunate circumstances where sometimes a game of football is the only source of happiness in their day. The joy that comes from playing football can help lift their spirits and replace despair with hope,” said U Zaw Moe Khine, Managing Director of Chevrolet Myanmar.  

“Chevrolet’s support of One World Futbol Project is intended to spark a worldwide movement to give children hope out of poverty and despair with the benefits that fitness, sport and teamwork. It is also in-line with purpose and values to serve and improve communities in which we live and work around the world,” he added.  

As founding sponsor of One World Futbol Project, Chevrolet has made a three-year commitment to donate and support the distribution of 1.5 million One World Futbols to organizations working with children in harsh environments around the world, including refugee camps, conflict zones, inner cities and other disadvantaged communities. The nearly indestructible One World Futbol never goes flat, never needs a pump, even in harsh conditions. 

Additionally, and in conjunction with Chevrolet’s partnership with OWFP and Manchester United football club, the automaker also launched a global social and digital campaign called ‘What Do You #PlayFor’. What Do You #PlayFor is designed to inspire and bring football fans closer to the sport. The message it hopes to send to football fans around the world is ‘At Chevrolet we play for you’.  

The campaign is developed to stimulate global discussion and engagement amongst Manchester United’s and Chevrolet’s followers worldwide and create meaningful change around the world. The question is asked on social media at www.chevroletfc.com and fans’ answers are shared in words and images. 

In Southeast Asia, Chevrolet has donated more than 20,000 balls to schools in the region including Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. GM Indonesia has pledged to donate an additional 5,400 balls to children in that country.

The community program is a part of Chevrolet Myanmar’s ‘Safer, Smarter, Healthier’, the three main focus areas that will guide Chevrolet’s community programs in Myanmar.
